Kristen, the founder of Lax Plus Club Lacrosse, has been the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Springfield College since 2009. As a former standout for Springfield’s women’s lacrosse team, Kristen still holds SC’s all-time record for points in a season, and ranks fifth all-time in career points. Mullady has been honored as the NEWMAC Coach of the Year three times since becoming head coach (2011,2015, and 2017). She has lead the pride to three NCAA appearance, with 2016 being Springfield’s first ever NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, and highest ranking as no. 10 in the DIII national standings according to Lacrosse Magazine. She has coached numerous players to recieve All-Conference, All-Region, and Player of the Year Awards.

Kristen re-entered the collegiate coaching ranks in 2009 after spending several years coaching high school and youth lacrosse in Connecticut. In addition to being the girl’s lacrosse coach for Hall High School in West Hartford, Kristen was named the President of the Connecticut High School Coaches Association for high school lacrosse for the spring of 2009, and has been the coach of the U-15 Connecticut Select Team since 2000. On the college level, Kristen also once served as the head coach for the Central Connecticut State University women’s lacrosse program.

In addition to Lax Plus and her position at Springfield College, Kristen is still involved in a variety of camps in the area. Since 2003, she has been the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator as well as the Director of Field Hockey and Lacrosse at Sportsworld, in East Windsor, CT.

Melissa Nord

Lax Plus Co-Director, Melissa Nord, is originally from the Syracuse, New York area. In high school, she lettered four years under Baldwinsville Head Coach, Doug Rowe. Rowe is ranked as the 3rd winningest girls lacrosse coach in New York State, and was inducted into the US Lacrosse Upstate NY Hall of Fame in 2012. During her high school years, she led her team to two New York State Class A Championship Finals, capturing one title, and making her one of the top defensive recruits in the country.

After narrowing her schools down to the University of Virginia, Georgetown, Syracuse, UMass and UConn, she followed her Upstate New York teammates to the University of Connecticut, where she made an immediate impact as a four-year starter for the Huskies. At UConn she played under head coach, and US Lacrosse Hall of Fame member, Bonnie Rosen. In addition to earning a number of academic honors during her time at UConn, Melissa was named First Team All-Big East, IWLCA All-Region Team, Team Captain, and Defensive MVP in 2004. She also played in the IWLCA North-South All Star Game to conclude her senior season, and was honored at the UConn Club Awards in 2005. Following her undergraduate studies in biology, Melissa stayed at UConn to earn a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, and coordinated theTutoring Program for the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletes at UConn.

Since graduating from UConn she has been involved with a number of local youth and high school lacrosse programs, has been a director of Lax Plus since 2006, and taught high school science for 6 years. Melissa and her husband have two young daughters who she hopes will share her love for the game one day.
